*OFFERING IN-PERSON AND VIDEO TOURS!
Whether you are from the Lowcountry or planning a destination wedding in Charleston, we hope that your guests will feel at home when you invite them to Magnolia Plantation to celebrate with you. In the springtime you will find our gardens filled with colorful azaleas and wisteria. During the warmer months of summer, vibrant crepe myrtle, hydrangeas, and our iconic magnolias fill the property. Fall brings an encore season of azaleas, morning glory, and the beginning of camellias. Throughout the winter months, our historic gardens showcase America's largest collection of camellias.
Rooted in rich history and the deep culture of the South, our beginning dates back to 1676 when the Drayton family called Magnolia home. In 1870 they extended an invitation to visitors to experience the thousands of beautiful flowers in their famous romantic gardens. Today, at nearly 500 acres and with the distinction of being America's oldest public gardens, we hope to extend the same gracious hospitality to your guests as the Drayton family did in the past to make your guests feel welcomed on your wedding day.
As you dream about what you want your wedding day to look and feel like, you'll notice that each of our wedding venues is almost as unique as each of our couples. Our indoor green house at the Conservatory will invite you to enjoy natural, simple pleasures. The Carriage House, surrounded by ancient live oaks, overflows with rustic, old Southern charm on the banks of the Ashley River. The stately and romantic Plantation House Veranda will enchant your guests with panoramic views of the abundant gardens in the heart of the plantation. We invite you to come experience the property and be swept away in the romance and beauty of our historical gardens. We feel so honored to play a part in your story and cannot wait to meet you!
For elopements, which is considered a small ceremony for just the wedding couple, we charge a flat fee of $500. This simply covers admission for the two of you, your photographer, officiant and gives you access to the entire plantation for you to take pictures afterwards. An officiant, photographer, etc. would be booked separately. Please note that you will not be renting a venue on property, so you have the capability to have your ceremony wherever you would like. The options are endless whether it be underneath the swooping oaks or nestled in the gardens!
Visitors from around the world have come to view the gardens at Magnolia Plantation since we opened to the public in the 1870's. Imagine your memories surrounded by the splendor that is America's last Romantic Garden. All photography sessions must be prescheduled through the events office and start at $150 for use of the gardens and grounds.
